Where we train and play
We train at the Phoenix Courts, Ferny Grove Parklands, just off Tramway Street. Go up the lane between The Grove Sports Club and the Tramway Museum.
Teams play in non-competitive (ages 8 to 10 years) and competitive leagues (11 years and above). Competitive leagues are for girls only, both boys and girls can play in the non-competitive leagues.
Our History
A group of netball enthusiasts from different backgrounds came together to start the Phoenix Netball Club in Ferny Grove for the 2011 Season. Our first year was an exciting year for netball not only in Ferny Grove but also with the Queensland Firebirds winning the ANZ Championship and Australia winning the Netball World Cup.
The need for a netball club in the Ferny Grove area was identified in 2009. The club was formed by a group of motivated parents and netball enthusiasts who are residents of the North West region in Brisbane. We aim to foster the community spirit of the area and to encourage the local children to get active, have fun and be part of a team.
We are committed to increasing recognition and appreciation of Netball as a sport and to encourage the Ferny Grove community to be proud and supportive of their local sports girls and women. Each year many Phoenix players are selected to represent Downey Park Netball Association or QC Netball Associations with many more involved in their Player Development Programs.
Netball is a healthy, team sport which fosters success and personal achievement. It’s about having fun, fostering teamwork and forging friendships.
Our Strategic Plan
To keep the club focussed on its goals and ensure transparency with our members the Phoenix Strategic Plan 2018-20 has been endorsed by the Committee. The plan outlines the clubs vision and goals and is consistent with the values of Netball Queensland's vision.
Club members are welcome to review the plan and provide feedback to the Committee by emailing president@phoenixnetball.org.au.
Our Motto
Our motto is "rising to the challenge".
The Phoenix colours and brand are a great way to show how passionate we are about netball and how we are ready to rise to any challenge.
The brand colours are pink, black, silver and white. The colours have been chosen to reflect that of a youthful new club.
The colour of pink shows that not only are we fun loving, energetic and youthful but that we are also proud to be a part of this fantastic female sport, netball. The colour of black conveys a sense of sophistication, and that we are serious about the game of netball. The colours of silver and white represent us as sleek, modern with a uncomplicated outlook on the game which is to get out there and play hard.
